Biography

The American artist, JOSEPH F. REYNOLDS (1861–1925), painted in Bermuda in 1903, executing an oil of a typical road scene replete with houses. Another of his paintings, in the collections of the Bermuda National Trust, depicts a little waterside cottage on East Broadway, where a boatyard is now located.(1)He seems to have visited the island as early as 1892,(2) and visits by him in 1899 and 1912 are also indicated.(3)
