Description: Original signed pencil and wash drawing of the capital of Grenada, St. Georges (Fort George on the promontory, the deep water harbour and the town to the right).
Inscribed in pencil on verso “View of Harbour Grenada might be Saint Georges Capital of Grenada. 1850? (BWI).”
Fort George, seen here in the middle ground with the flag fluttering in a light breeze, was built by the French in 1705. Much of it has survived and it remains a popular destination for visitors to the island.
